In addition to the Excalibur Automatic Skeleton Roger Dubuis will also be debuting the new Excalibur Spider Skeleton Flying Tourbillon at the SIHH next month.
The new Excalibur Spider Skeleton Flying Tourbillon from Roger Dubuis takes the skeleton theme beyond the movement alone and extends it to encompass a skeletonized case, dial and hands.
The Excalibur Spider Skeleton Flying Tourbillon carries the typical signature features of Roger Dubuis skeleton watches which are a star-shaped design and high-end finishes including a circular-grained plate. A black chapter ring adorns the fully skeletonized dial along with a white minute track and the hours are marked by titanium screws.
The skeletonized hour and minute hands are made from black DLC treated gold. Located at 7 o’clock is a one-minute flying tourbillon and contained by a a tourbillon carriage shaped like a Celtic cross.
The skeleton aspect is intended to serve a three-fold purpose: improve visibility, add intricate sculptural effects and enhanced transparency.
The RD505SQ hand-wound movement powers the Excalibur Spider Skeleton Flying Tourbillon, and the watch is completed with a black rubber and a titanium adjustable folding clasp.
The Skeletonized case is made from titanium and 45mm in size. The RD505SQ movement consists of 165 parts and 19 jewels and runs at a rate of 3Hz and has a 60-hour power reserve.
